Pete B. outside his shop on Stroud High Street
We are making very good progress with preparing all the documentation for the Neighbourhood Development Plan. For the first time the actual content for the Plan is being assembled into a document that the public can examine for themselves to check it is suitable. In October and early November we will have a pop-up shop as part of the consultation process where anyone can come and see the Plan, talk to some of those involved and make their comments.
The empty shop we have been given for this event is only two or three doors up the High Street from Pete's emporium which he named 'Cornflower and Calico'. This afternoon I walked around town with Bruce who is the graphic designer of the 80 page NDP document and we wanted to find some more images to use in the illustration of the Plan. I have contributed most of the pictures but Bruce has also offered some of his extensive library. It was fun walking about discussing the potential of particular views and scenes, some of which are there to show specific information whilst others are to provide a flavour of town life.
Bruce cheerily engages with people and homed in on Pete who was standing in the doorway of his shop. He was interested in what we were doing and knew about the Neighbourhood Plan and its objectives. While they talked Bruce asked if Pete minded being in the picture and he gave us permission.
I rather liked the strong bright sun shining on his face in contrast to the deepening shadows. You might be interested to see the shop's website
