Great Central Railway

Had my first choo-choo train experience today at Leicester. As soon as I stepped inside one of the classic coaches, I immediately remembered the scenes from Harry Potter where they were transported by the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts. The seating areas were compartmentalized and the access to each of the compartments is by the side of the train rather than in the middle. At the access area, you can also stick your head out and look at the side of the train while it is moving. It was so awesome I felt like i was a dog in a car looking out the window minus the tongue sticking out and no drooling either.

Left Leicester North and travelled all the way to Loughborough (train was wobblier than the modern trains now). The 4 railway stations were also well preserved and they even decorated them with vintage luggages. My return ticket for the vintage train was 13GBP (more expensive than my return ticket to and from Leicester from Leamington which was only 7.50GBP). It was worth it though.

I also visited Leicester Cathedral and visited the tomb where they finally laid King Richard III. The marble stone on top of Richard III tomb was amazing. It had a deep seamless cut in the middle and I just googled the meaning of that cut as : " The deep cut in the stone will allow light to flood through it, symbolising that death is not the end, but that we all receive new life in Christ." Pretty deep and spiritual meaning. Extra photo of the tomb is added today. Plus of me in one of the choo-choo train's compartment.
