Hi, Myanmar
Before I started to tell more about my first landing day in Myanmar, I have to be honest that I had never ever ever put this mysterious country into my list of "To-Visit" destinations.
It was absolutely an accident: as random as my boss just randomly decided to send me to Yangon to run some errands. Thus I got my visa and air tickets right before I set off, to this place none of my acquaintances have visited. And it felt really awfully restless, excited but still perplexed.
So it began. Touching down on this land of myth at midnight, when I really saw the bright complexion of the heart city of Myanmar, it was fascinating: barefoot walking monks, shining golden pagoda tip rises from the green, messy traffic but peaceful pedestrians, chaotic but colorful constructions.
Here, none of the language on my tongue is up for use. So fragmented English words together with body language is the last surviving stick I could hold onto. Lucky that I had an local colleague helping me with the translation.
My whole day shuttling across the urbanizing city was eyes opening. Coke was just successfully broke into this nation a couple of years ago. The very first KFC is just opened for business. And what's the most interesting, shopping malls already embraced many international brands esp. for cosmetics even though they don't really have a proper genteel cafe like Starbucks (o, wait, coz the sea goddess haven't swam in border yet. XD)
And yet, everything is just started.
