High Summer

I have chosen 3 more garden flowers that have come up trumps this year despite the poor weather. Left is an interesting type of hybrid osteospermum (Whirlygig ) commonly called the African daisy, which I photographed in the conservatory on 8 May. It was such a cold spring there was no question of placing outside in a planter at that stage. They did wobble in June and lost all their blooms but have beautifully regenerated on the patio. The shot shows the flower and its interesting spoon-like petals at 3 stages of development.
On the right in Hydrangea Pink Lady bought 3/4 years ago and providing a slow steady corolla of blooms from now till September. Below is the fabulous rose Designer Sunset covered in raindrops. I think the summer flowers have acclimatise to the cooler, wetter conditions that have prevailed this year.
