Ruined Castle in Fife
As a reward for all our hard work recently, we went out for lunch in Abernethy and then a drive through Fife, finally passing Balmerino Abbey and Newport-on-Tay where I'd been on Thursday with friend L.
The weather wasn't nearly as sunny, but it was warm and the breeze was pleasant, so we stopped off at various points for a wander round. Somewhere en route, although I'm not sure where, I spotted this ruined castle, so had to stop for some photos (see Extra too). I haven't been able to identify it, so if there are any Fifers who can advise, I'd be grateful:-)
PS Have now been able to identify this as Creich Castle which was originally built in the 11th century to keep out Viking raiders! These ruins are from the 16th century and it used to be owned by the Earls of Fife.
