This is my small pot of lavender - which is in bloom. My huge gangling plant of lavender, I thought would be in bloom by now, is still in it's budding stage, having been that way for the best part of a month now!

Usually by now there would be lots of butterflies and bees stumbling over each other to get to the flowers, but alas there are none to be seen. What I have seen in the last few days is quite a few dead bees on footpaths and pavements.

I heard today on the radio that many hives are at risk of keeling over if they are not fed some sugar solution pronto, as the rain has retarded so many nectar-giving flowers.

The forecast for the weekend doesn't hold much promise of better weather either:(
