HRH's visit to Nottingham..Gin o clock!
set alarm for early early doors (5.30am), as knew the trams would be busy with the visit to Nottingham by HRH Queen Elizabeth, and the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. and i was right....
the tram at Phoenix Park was standing room only, and lots of folks donning red, white and blue, and even the odd RWB painted face! Trams terminated at Royal Centre, so i wandered towards Old Market Square and the crowd was massive already.
The Queen was arriving at 10.10am, so first jobs of the day out of the way, and me and my team went into the square for an hour or so, to see the visit. great atmosphere, young and old, all waiting for the cheers that signalled the arrival into the square. with being just 5 ft 2, i struggled to get a decent vantage point for a decent pic.
the arrival was signalled with the raising of the royal standard flag above the council house (little disappointing that other shops in the square couldn't raise a union jack...debenhams!) Liz, Wills and Kate finally arrived and the national anthem was sung as they stepped out onto the balcony.
i left the square and went to the Action Centre for a day of interviews. little did i know that HRH would pass by later, and couldve got an even better shot (as Mrs Silver did!). all in all, a great turn out from our wonderful city!
interviews, then home, then quiz in Derby. you'd think that 67 points out of 72 would be good enough to win.....sadly not!
