Nicky's Birthday Prosecco
Deershed Festival - BackblipDay 1 (Days 2 & 3 also backblipped)
This is our 5th year at Deershed Festival with the same group of friends and their families and it never disappoints. Tents went up with practiced ease and it was time to crack open "Nicky's Birthday Prosecco" for her significant birthday a few weeks ago. We went to the bubble show with SamSam the Bubbleman..who doesn't love bubbles?
A few good bands played in the afternoon, but the evening's headline act was one of my favourites...Billy Bragg, so he had to be my blip for the day. I was a big fan of Billy at school & university (not of his politics because I am embarrassed to say I am particularly apolitical) and haven't seen him play live since seeing him at the Hammersmith Lyceum in 1986..I was a bit of a front row groupie singing along in my loudest Essex accent...he did not disappoint and has still 'got it'.
We finished the evening in the Obelisk Bar watching 'Holy Moly and The Crackers'...described in the programme as gypsy folk meets americana..they were totally toe tapping and great fun to round off a great (and dry) first day.
