Growing old disgracefully

NEW NOTES

The new polymer bank notes are already out of date - can spot why?  Our FCG is not at all out of date - he wanted to make sure he had collected one of the first notes before he left the country so we went to the Clydedale Bank in St Vincent's Place and I enjoyed the ceiling (extra) while he talked big business with the cashier.

We also did the bus tour.  Glasgow looked magnificent in the sunshine. It's salutary once in a while to see your home city through a visitor's eyes.  Neil Oliver (swoon) does the commentary and I learned so many new things, e.g. the Clutha Bar got its name from the wee boats that used to ply up and down the Clyde (also called the Clutha).

The FCG chose haggis, neeps and tatties for this Last Supper with us - he is off to the prairies tomorrow morning.  After four weeks the house will seem quite strange and empty without him, however we don't have long before I'll need to transform the collector-of-weird-objects bedroom into a fairy castle for his wee sister.

In other news, I decided today to learn a new skill.  It will probably come to nothing, but maybe you will see a little bit of it develop here - if you are good.
