Carlinville

A short stop in this lovely little town, refreshing ourselves in the super Refuge Cafe.

Other stops today included the red brick original 1930s section of Route 66 in Auburn, Illinois. Staunton and Hamelin before seeing the Chain of Rocks bridge over the Mississippi River, en route to Saint Louis with the stunning arch.

Another day of sunshine and showers, before arriving in St Louis in glorious sunshine.  Mind you, having to park on the third floor of a multi-storey car park was a bit hairy, riding up the concrete ramps smattered with diesel and dampness from the recent rainfall...!
