Life in a Northern Town

i-eye Day 33:- Monumental

Given the extremely relaxed attitude American Airlines have towards the use of phones etc on flights, I spent most of the flight down taking photos out of the window. We were on the wrong side of the plane to see The Pentagon but I managed The Lincoln Memorial instead.

It's been a hot day! We set off from a cool and rainy Chicago, but by the time we got to the airport it was clear and sunny. We were held at the end of the runway for over 45 minutes in the baking sun and it started to get very uncomfortable sitting in a metal tube. An hour or so of coolness on the flight then into the oven that is Washington DC. We walked the couple of blocks to The White House and were all nearly keeling over. It's going to stay this hot while we are here but not as sunny - thank goodness for that, I can't be doing with all this heat. What a total wuss. The locals are walking around in suits and ties, we are half naked, seeking out tiny strips of shade and sweating like sumo wrestlers. Brits abroad.

I'll add a couple of extras - obvious family shot complete with ice lolly that melted in nano-seconds, and the pal that John made on the plane.

(We had a McBreakfast so it doesn't even warrant a description).
