Wagner Falls at Daybreak
We (my friend Doug and I) awoke on the big lake (Superior) at about 7 a.m. We couldn't get our hiking permits until 9, so we had breakfast, and went to see this waterfall.
It holds special meaning for me, because I have a picture of Lisa along with our 3 kids standing in front of it.
We got our permits, and headed for the shore. It was a glorious hiking day...65 and sunny. We walked 9 miles, and were just going to put up our tents...when the skies opened up. Rain, thunder, and lightning. In minutes, we were soaked, and so was all of our equipment.
Hard-core hikers would have put up their wet tent, put on some different wet clothes, and slept in their wet sleeping bag. But, Doug and I are more soft-core. We opted to hike out, and we checked into Scotty's Hotel to dry out our stuff.
I'm beginning to wonder if I'm a hiking jinx. It seems like something always goes wrong.
But...tomorrow awaits.
