Baby, it's cold outside

Like any self-respecting city, Sheffield has its peregrines (I've blipped them a couple of times), and our pair have bred successfully this year. As I had it on good authority that the fledging was imminent, I decided to go down and get a look at the nest platform before it was too late. It was bitterly cold on the ground, so goodness only knows what it was like atop this church steeple. I was rewarded with the sight of both ma and pa peregrine, and a bit of wing stretching by the well-grown chick (it was rumoured there were 2 but I only saw one) It peeped over the edge, then retreated to the relative shelter of the back of the platform. Not today, it must have thought.
Once home, I made marmalade. We had finished the last batch whilst on holiday, and I had a few Seville oranges left in the freezer which I padded out with a couple of grapefruit. The smell of marmalade cooking is one of my favourite smells!
