Near Perfect Camouflage

Kayaking on Lake Neuchatel today, this Goosander family almost escaped our notice sitting on a log beside a huge uprooted tree. I'd never seen this bird before so was a bit disappointed to see it decribed as "common" in my 1975 bird book. Maybe it was then!
