St John's Eve ...

This evening a large gathering of Spaniards mustered on Portobello Beach to celebrate St John the Baptist's Day. This day is also linked to Midsummer's Day. (Adrian, pictured here, was very keen to explain to us the context of this Spanish gathering.)

The Spanish revelers had brought beer, wine, food and fire with them and were accompanying the celebrations with live music.

My day began on the shores of Lake Geneva. My flight home was a smooth and direct one. ( The public transport from the airport to home took me almost as long as my flight from Geneva to Edinburgh!)
