Fountain Fun

The children were awake by 6am. Ella said she'd like to go to the beach again, and Nathaniel was also keen, so we had breakfast and were there by 9 am. However it was only 10 degrees and the wind was whipping the sand up so much Ella said it stung her (bare) legs. We had a quick paddle and decided to retreat to the protection of the Duchess of Northumberland's Garden, well not hers yet as our lottery money and the EU paid for it but in a few years she gets it all back.

It was already heaving with people being school holidays in England, but Ella and Nathaniel managed to get a go on the digger trucks by the main fountain, then we had fun splashing in the other fun fountains. This one swirled water down and whooshed it up over the sides. As you can see, Ella is totally soaked from the water play. Nathaniel wasn't so keen. I'd taken a towel and dry clothes as I had anticipated this. I gave them each a fruit scone to keep them going on the long walk back to the car park. We were unable to keep Nathaniel awake even with Belopalula on the drive home today so Mr C carried him up to his cot where he was still zonked when the parents arrived to take them home. Nathaniel just wanted Gaga and didn't want to go home, and as I kissed Ella goodbye she said could she come again tomorrow, so I think they enjoyed themselves.

I think the gin will be out before 6 o'clock tonight. It was good to spend time with them, but we are shattered.
