Evening stroll down to Maldon to see the fantastic steam fair (see extra pic). All Saints, in the centre of Maldon, has the only triangular church tower in Britain. The late-Norman design is topped with a hexagonal spire. Various suggestions have been made to explain the triangular form: the need to fit in with the adjoining roadways; a French influence; a symbolic reflection of the Trinity; but no-one really knows. And Maldon Prom has the most amazing sights.
