IN THE FOREST

Another 5.30 start this morning, we walked to a bird watching tower at a local river. Saw lots of birds including an aquatic warbler that we were all hoping to see. We also had excellent views of shrike, a ground  feeding hawfinch and the elusive wryneck again, plus many more.

After breakfast we went back into the forest looking for woodpeckers again and were rewarded with  Grey - headed, White - backed and Black woodpeckers.
We were back at the hotel at 2 o'clock for lunch and then we had the afternoon free. Mr.MS7 and I went for a walk skirting round the forest and into the Palace Park. The park was a mix of open woodland, grass areas and small lakes. We saw many birds including Lesser Spotted Eagle, Common Rosefinch and Red - backed Shrike and Great Reed Warbler.
