last day of Jubilee Celebrations
as i write this, i'm contemplating lighting my own beacon in my living room to keep warm! it's June and it's freezing! it's also raining (yet again!). well i didn't get a nice lie in. woke at 5.30am, dozed a bit, watched BBC breakfast, dozed again, cup of tea, and then up at 8am. have to say the Jubilee concert last night was awesome, if that didn't make people proud to be British, nothing will.
breakfast done and then i set out to take pics of the two local Jubilee beacons. the first one at Moorgreen. took pics of it, with Greasley Church in the background. the second one (and todays blip), was at Kimberley Cemetery. had got flowers to take for Dad, so a great opportunity to capture the beacon. painted in red, white and blue. The Cemetery Chapel is one of the highest points around here. in the distance is Crich Stand where a beacon was also lit last night.
as i took the pic, i met a woman walking her dog. she lived local and didn't know the beacon was being lit last night (I'd be gutted if i lived as close as she did and had missed it, so close she could have barbequed marshmellows from it!)
back home and to 49. loads to do this week, so i set about undercoating. then caulking all the gaps. had a visit from the plod whilst there, some disturbance on the street last night - i knew nothing.... he was nice and said he liked my front door! ha ha!
back home at 6pm and in time to see the Queens Jubilee speech. what a brilliant weekend. no other country in the world does what we do, and we do it so well.
off this week, so i can enjoy a port and some cheese tonight....
