Wet Dog
Blending in with the other countryside smells the odour of wet dog seems to bother me less here. It was grey and drizzly all day but she is mainly this wet as we went into an even deeper part of the high grassy meadow. On one of her four walks today. I hope she gets the concept of a holiday and doesn't think this is her new life.
Despite four walks, or perhaps because of, it has been an exceptionally long and lazy day. J slept the best his has in a very, very long time and was on pretty good, but gentle form today. That combined with the driechy (I love my word I have learned from blip; I hope I have used it correctly) day means we have had a quiet and relaxing at home day. Well apart from the various dog walks and Carlos and Anna checked out the swimming pool this afternoon. And there have been some cards (mainly German Whist) and chess (everyone but me). And I have read enormous amounts of my book. I can't recall when we have done quite so little and it has been rather lovely all round.
Today's dinner was BBQ'd homemade turkey burgers from the kitchen of DaDa. After the grey day the blue skies and sunshine appeared just in time. We even managed a glass or two in the last of the evening sun.
A very relaxing holiday day from which we are now all exhausted and ready for an early night. Perhaps this is why there is less to do in the countryside - the fresh air knocks you out by 10pm!
