Fencing
Husband and I have spent most of the day fencing one of the final parts of boundary fence on our farm that was needing done. It has only taken us 3 years to get the farm nearly completely stock proof. We both hate fencing and there is a lot of it still to be done with many of the interior fences on the farm falling over from old age! The dogs loved playing on the beach most of the day and are all snoring away now. Just to the left of our fence is a gap in the way for walkers to go through. Dris is demonstrating it in the extra photo well he would have done if this feature had worked. I hope that they notice it and don't climb the fence. We are hoping this will stop our young cows from escaping, for the last month when we have been too busy to fence my husband has being going down twice a day and pushing the cows towards home to keep them from escaping. Lets hope they don't find a new way out. It was a really low tide today!
The calf I spent an hour with just before bed using a smaller teat and bottle. Still wont sook but managed to get him to take a few hundred mls by squeezing it into his mouth and him swallowing and the odd sook. Still not good enough really, we cant believe that he cant get the hang of it. An hour to get him to rather unwillingly take a few hundred mls is a small bit off progress I suppose, but today he has not improved on this.
On the plus side there was a new lamb last night so only 2 left to lamb now.
