The Fork
No, that is not some clever forced perspective photography, that is indeed a giant fork in Lac Leman. It marks the location of Nestlè's Alimentarium (fancy word for food museum) on Vevey's coastline. It was good to have a couple of hours out of the sun and learn that this was the town where solid milk chocolate was invented!
I moved on to my last hostel of the tour, Montreux. Dining by the lake can be pretty expensive so I enjoyed a McDonalds next to the Freddie Mercury statue on the lakeside.
Why is there a Freddie Mercury statue in Montreux? This is where Queen recorded a lot of their music when they were trying to avoid the press re Freddie's health. You can still go and see the studio set up so that's what I did in the evening. A rather different museum to the one I went to in the morning.
