Olympic Museum, Lausanne
This was a great way to spend the only rainy day of my holiday. Lausanne is the HQ for the International Olympic Committee. The museum underwent renovations a year or so ago so it was full of fancy lighting, touch screens and a very clever layout.
This is a photo of the Olympic torch display. It's the only complete collection in the world and included details about each relay route and the torch design e.g. the London 2012 torch is triangular because the games has been there three times.
My favourite exhibit showed each games in the context of world history and it was fascinating to see the influence the Olympics have had on restoring peace and unity after wars and achieving gender equality. Did you know it wasn't until London 2012 that every single team sent a female athlete? The museum brought back many fond memories from my time gigging and watching sport at the 2012 Games.
There was so much to see I literally spent the whole day there.
