The 'wooden bridge'

What a difference - yesterday dreary, dark and rainy, today sunny and beautiful blue skies.

We had an extremely busy day in Cambridge - starting off by climbing over 100 twisty narrow stairs to the top of Great St Mary's church tower for fabulous views over the city and the colleges.

Then it was down to the river for a guided punt along the Backs seeing lots of the beautiful architecture and very cute goslings :)

A relaxed lunch then lots more walking around. We had wanted to go inside some of the colleges but it is exam season so all were closed yesterday. We were surprised to see a couple open today and we were glad to get a peek around Trinity and Queens. Kings chapel was open but it was £8 just to go inside the chapel and no looking around the grounds at the moment so we gave it a miss!

Both Trinity and Queens were beautiful inside and we spent ages wandering around and taking photos of the features.

The image I eventually chose is of the 'wooden bridge' or mathematical bridge as it is often referred to. There are many 'find' told about this bridge including the name plus how it was made and who by (it wasn't a Newton design and does have nuts and bolts!) you can see it from another bridge close by and also from the river on a punt but by going inside Queens college, you can actually walk over it! It's much steeper than it looks!
