Changing Shoreline
The sand is blocking the river mouth once again, creating the backup of scummy river water on the right. The stretch of dark sand right down the middle of the photo is the most changeable piece of landscape--sometimes it's gone altogether and the river flows wide and free; on other days the channel is narrow and deep, with steep banks. One day the channel will be to the right, another time it will be far to the left. It seems an enormous amount of sand to move so quickly here and there. It's one of the reasons we enjoy our morning walk--you never know what's going to be where.
