Medan, Indonesia

After only four hours sleep I had to get to the airport and fly to Bangkok where I had a connecting fight to Medan, Indonesia. Waiting for me in Bangkok was a member of AirAsia staff holding this sign. He escorted me to the international transfers to wait for the second flight which was delayed.

Finally I arrived in Medan and took a local bus in to the city centre and to my hotel which was opposite a food court with live music. It had taken nearly 12 hours between hotels so I was completely exhausted. I had some tasty food and watched some football in bed.

My first impressions of Indonesia (another new country!) are that the food is spicy and the people are lovely. It reminds me a lot of Malaysia so far and they use the same language (using the latin alphabet, thankfully) but there's no English on menus here in Medan due to the total lack of tourism.
