Return to the North

A day of contrasts

I had a bloody awful nights sleep. The people in the next cabin were having a very good time for a very long time! Then I started with a sore throat which managed to keep me awake much of the night. Hey ho such is life.
It rained heavily during the night but was fine in the morning for the kids to finish their last day of sports. Today was the turn of hockey, ultimate frisbee (yep it is a sport apparently) and volleyball. After walking out part way on to the field and getting wet feet I decided I would go take pictures of the volleyballers!
The tournament finished at midday with a farewell and announcement of who made the Nationals. we had 6 students selected for various sports to head up to Wanganui in the July holidays so we were all very proud. One student out of the 6 was probably expecting it as he got selected for the Area Schools National rugby team last year but the other 5 were absolutely blown away by the announcement.
I waved the kids off just after 12 and headed up to Lake Ruataniwha - some glorious sunny shots can be seen here as well some macro shots of fungi. I checked the time and still wasn't time to check into my new motel so I headed up to Mt Cook - well s you can see from this shot - the weather was somewhat different!
However I chose it because I love the moodiness.

As my extra photo i've added one of a mistake shot at the volleyball - but I really liked it and was very nearly my blip
