The Shire?
A much better day for the Bank Holiday and we headed out for a (later) morning walk. Some of the regular ladies plus some extras - men even!
A lovely mix of meadows, woodland and moors in good company finishing with coffee and treats at Lady B's where it was warm and sunny enough to sit outside.
This shot is from the meadows that skirt Goit Stock woods. I love the fresh green you can see in the trees in the background and the sparkle of the water in the bottom of the shot which is Cowhouse Beck which flows under the former Clapper bridge down to Harden Beck. When Chris saw this he thought it looked like Hobbiton! I think he is right it could definitely be part of The Shire!
A walk of around 6 miles in total. You can see today's group in my extra photos plus some lambs among the trees. You will probably recognise Corinthian Column at the front and next to her Wilsden Walker with the infamous Buster! We are sitting on the William Ferrand Memorial at Lady Blantyre's rock in St Ives Estate woods. (Sadly Lady B herself - the wooden version - is no more!)
