The wrong day
This morning was wild – lashing rain, wind, cold. Definitely not the time to decide to leave the nest and find out about the world. But that’s exactly what this little Song Thrush did.
We have been watching a Thrush’s nest in our drive for a few days and seen parents feeding the young. Then this morning the two babies decided to leave the nest and we watched them stumbling about in the rain – see below – with parent watching, also in the rain – see below. (These pictures were taken through the window and through rain.)
The Blip picture was taken later, when everything had dried up, and this one had taken to perching on top of our ground feeder. Parents are around, but I hope it moves to somewhere more secluded soon, as it looks very vulnerable there.
A much better afternoon than morning and it looks like a good forecast for tomorrow and our Blipmeet.
10.30 at Dufton Café, called the Post Box Pantry for reasons that will be perfectly obvious when you get there!
