Mighty trees

We were heading north west today and had a great (if at times a little scary) drive through Northern California, following the beautiful Trinity Valley for a lot of the way. And then we reached the sea – the Pacific. The idea was to drive up the coast through the Redwood National Park and so we did. A very helpful guy at the Visitor Centre gave us a map and pointed out the best places to stop. How amazing are these huge Coast Redwoods. They are around 300ft tall and can live for up to 2,000 years. That’s quite mind-blowing when you think about it. Walking amongst these mighty trees and you feel just as John Steinbeck described it:  ‘from them comes silence and awe’.
