Orange Tip

Not the greatest shot - but considering how awful the day later turned I'm glad I grabbed this one, which I assume was trying to dry out & warm up in the brief interlude of sunshine we had first thing.
UK Butterflies tells me that Orange Tips are relatively common - but I can't recall having seen one in the garden before - when I was confined to the house & garden last Spring I blipped a fair few butterflies - but didn't even see one of these beauties.
Sat here typing this now as sleet & hail batter into the cave's windows its a lovely little reminder of how Spring should be.

As the news from Nepal just seems to get worse & worse I'm proud to be able to say the climbing community is really coming together - many of our Association's members are donating climbing wall entry proceeds from this Bank Holiday Monday to Community Action Nepal - a charity set up by Doug Scott, the first Brit to climb Everest in 1975. When I spoke with their offices today they were still trying to ascertain if their own in country staff are safe - a very real reminder of how wide reaching this tragedy is becoming.
