Oops!
Ince Castle with Colourful Mai today - what can I say? English eccentricity at its best! Romantic, English Garden, quirky, almost like Peter Greenaway's The Draughtsmans Contract. There were sheep on the field in front of the "castle", with the River Lynher as backdrop plus a frigate!!( Well a blooming big Naval thingy!!) If there had been a line of washing I would so have expected to see the Draughtsman fornicating somewhere!! ( You have to see the film to understand all this!!!)
There were stone sculptures everywhere - my favourite being the Snail Riders - which were not only by the pond, one either end, but another two in the White Garden, with a boy holding fish fountain and a dog atop the wall.
Then of course there was the shell house - which I usually find unspeakably naff - love the individual shells but all together something rather nasty happens! Unlike this shell house - breathtaking!! The shells came from the British Colonies, collected by Lord Boyd apparently!! I had to lie on the floor top get the ceiling with the ostrich egg in the centre, the little girl in there with her grandmother opted to stay with me as Mai shut the door - as I lay on the floor with my legs over my head to allow Mai to close the door! mai said she sooo would not have stayed in there with me if she had been the child - I predict she will go far - she even chatted to me as I took photographs!
Did I mention the Sphinx, or the stone Lions which should have been on the Admiralty at the end of the Mall in London? What about the WI serving cakes and tea? The Auricula House? The Turkey Oak - hugemongous! The 1920's pool? The man with 4 children and a cat on a lead? ( I kid you not!!)
Another stupendous garden in Saltash!!!! I could not decide which wonder to blip - I loved the snail riders! But decided as it was a garden and to blip one statue over another, or one of the shell house over the over would be unfair - so it had to be the flowers!
Just to balance things up I found another sick chicken locking up tonight - Shadow didn't come out of coop for nighttime corn - wouldn't eat from my hand, felt her crop - empty. So once more a house guest upstairs. She did greedily consume some yogurt once I pushed her beak into it, and then a little bit of egg - so hopeful signs. Tomorrow I will sit her in a hot bowl of water for 20 minutes and see if that helps unblock anything.
I am giving myself a challenge next week - 10 maximum photos on flickr - preferably less, ideally none!!!!! But for today, there are loads!
