Looking Back up the Slope

17.3C with long sunny spells, a little mist/haze and some thin white cloud. Light to moderate breeze.

This morning I weeded the area on the pink chips by the path at the side of the house where I usually grow the second early potatoes in big pots. Then I half filled the pots with compost, put them in position, added the chitted seed potatoes, and then topped up with more compost. Six pots, ten seed potatoes. The two biggest pots will be finally topped off once the plants appear above the surface.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch. All was quiet in the field nearest our house today with the potato planting all finished. The drills are looking very neat. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road towards Scryne. We turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. In the field to our right the tractor was going back and forth across the field fairly quickly. It looked as if it might be spreading fertilizer of some sort. I took a couple of shots from the track and a few from the cycle path looking back up the slope of the field.

We came back along the cycle path and round in a long loop, heading into Carnoustie then up the main road before turning along for home.

Later I struggled to mow the front lawn, which was longer than I thought, while Maeve lay in a shady spot in the back garden.
