Mi dedoooo :/
I woke up pretty early this morning and decided to go out and sit in the sun whilst the temperature was bareable. I got up, sorted myself and headed out with my kindle, South America book, suncream and scarf. Literally as soon as I had sat down Ricardo, who works at the hostel, shouted over and told me were leaving for a nice river in Bonda, not too far from the hostel. It probably took everyone about an hour to finally get sorted and ready but we finally left around 9 and caught a bus just outside.
It wasn't long before we arrived and we sat and shared a couple of beers. I didn't even think about what time it was! It is the season for these small little fruits called Mamon so we were given a pile of those from the guy that sold us the beers. They had literally just been cut off the trees and were so tasty. You have to crack the skin off with your teeth and then suck the fruit out. It has a really unique taste and reminded me of the first time I tried passion fruit.
Afterwards we walked on and I ended up cutting my toe so we had to stop early so I could clean it in the river. There was lots of blood which totally grossed me out but Gabriel, our Brazilian friend, came to the rescue with his handy salt mix and that alongwith Brie's just in case First Aid kit I was sorted.
We walked another 20 minutes or so before stopping at a nice quiet part of the river where it was just the 5 of us. We got into the water and relaxed in the water rapids flowing around us. It was so surreal sitting in the middle of a river with noone else around listening to the sounds of the animals. I stayed in for about half an hour and then watched Brie practice some yoga on a nearby rock. I felt so so chilled and ended up falling asleep for an hour or 2. It was such a nice day and we finished it off with a great lunch in the little town nearby.
We got back to the hostel around 6 with just enough time to relax for a few hours. Brie and I shared fajitas for dinner and then we got ready for a night out in town with Deana, a worker from the hostel, and Ellie, a new volunteer, and some other volunteers. We headed to La Brisa Loca around 11ish and had one drink there and then headed to a club near La Puerta, where we finally ended up. I had an excellent night. Because we were with a Colombian we were all dancing (well trying) some salsa and reggaeton etc. and as per usual I was loving the music. A few of us decided to chip in for a bottle of Aguardiente which definitely helped get the party going. Later we even saw Charlie in La Puerta which was nice seeing as it was his birthday.
After La Puerta we ended up in Parque de los Novios and hung out for a while before heading back to the hostel around 4am. I headed straight to bed as soon as we arrived....so sleeeeepy
