The journey continues...

Weekend, por fin!

...and time to sleep!

I was super tired when I woke this morning and it took me extra long to get out of bed so Brie and I were pretty late for school, no surprise there! Despite the bad start we had a nice little morning which went in really fast. After the break it was pretty eventful as one of the pupils dad arrived with his donkey and cart filled with sand to continue the building of the school. Because it has rained so much lately, the path outside the school is a mess with lots of holes and very uneven parts. For this reason the donkey just couldn't manage to get up the hill, even with the 5 of us pushing. After this excitement the kids did not want to settle and do any more work. Brie took the younger ones for some games and I gave the older ones (Karen and Ricardo) an English class on sports.

Just before school ended a group of people from our hostel turned up as every Friday they organise a volunteering trip. It's a shame them arrived so late but I think the kids enjoyed showing off to new faces and the people that came had a great time doting over the kids.

Afterwards it was back to the hostel for a few hours to chill whilst it bucketed down. I treated myself to some tasty fajitas from the hostel kitchen, which took an absolute lifetime to arrive and actually made us late. This was my first time back to Oasis to actually teach and it couldn't have went better. As usual I was with the younger kids where Kris was taking a lesson on colours, The kids were great; really well-behaved and put a lot of their effort into their work. There are 3 little sisters in the class who were really cute today and constantly seeked attention. The kids are so tiny it's almost impossible not to dote over them and so I enjoy giving them all my attention. And of course I got talking to the older ones who are obsessed with playing bejeweled on my phone and we had a good laugh!

Tonight was supposed to be a party night in Rodadero. I got all ready to go out and had a few drinks. We were all sitting chatting waiting for the bar to close and my eyes just kept getting heavier and heavier. It was becoming less likely by the second that I was going to make it out. I really wanted to make the party, but in the end I fell asleep in a hammock (surprise surprise!) and when Brie woke me up I quickly moved on to my bed. I admit I feel a little boring, falling asleep early on a Friday night but there's always manana :)

I liked the colours in this pic...Brie's filling her 5 litre water bottle with a bag of water which is a very awkward process we often have to help each other out with!
