Mariposas Amarillas :)
Today was another great day! In the morning we did some writing and reading work with the kids until the break and then we spent the rest of the morning painting the numbers and matching pictures to go with them. I even had Erick painting his feet to get a picture of his footsteps and 10 toes. It was a lot of fun since we haven't done any paint work with the kids yet and they definitely seemed to enjoy themselves.
After school we all headed into t0wn for the meeting and I had a great beach lunch. I still can't get over how filling a lunch you can get for £1 and it even comes with blackberry juice :) The meeting was a waste of time as we literally discussed nothing! Although Brie and I did get a chance to play some pool, it was about time I started practicing...maybe I can join in on the killer pool nights on Mondays sometime soon.
The sport at Oasis was great today also. There was a good crowd of us with 2 new volunteers and I spent a lot of time sitting with the little girls which is definitely a big plus in this heat! I have such good banter with the older kids, going to miss it so much here. We ended up staying until 4.45 and the sports are actually supposed to finish at 4. That just shows how much fun we were having. By the end I was absolutely stinking from the kids constantly climbing over me and from the dirt and dust that fills the barrio. The little girl that I was walking with at the end even took me to a water point and asked if I wanted to clean myself and the lady who keeps the key for the school was giggling at the dirt of me!
We were back at the hostel for 5pm for a few hours of chilling, swimming in the pool and then pizza night at 9ish. I left with Naomi and Brie to get the pizza for everyone and we met Ricardo, who works at the hostel, for a drink whilst waiting on the pizza. As sad as it sounds I was super excited for pizza night as I have an unhealthy addiction to pizza and literally haven't had it once since I arrived here. When we arrived back to the hostel with the pizza for everyone I was given a package from reception...my cards!!!! I think I was even happier and more excited than the first time I received a package in Argentina, probably because I thought I would have to travel a good few hours to Barranquilla to pick my parcel up! I even opened it before eating my pizza and my cute little mum sent me a top alongwith my cards. Extremely happy :) I had to celebrate with a few beers!
Later we watched a movie which was a bit of a fail as Naomi fell asleep, one guy left half way and I was busy on my laptop which left another guy paying attention and actually watching the movie. By the sounds of it I didn't miss much but I did end up staying up until 2am which is not a good idea when I have to get up at 6.30am in the morning...
