The Sky on Friday

As 9 30 am approached there seemed little
hope for the crowd assembled on the balcony
of Scarborough's Spa of getting a sight of the
eclipse. And yet, precisely at the appointed time,
like a pair of theatre curtains drawn apart, the
clouds opened to reveal this rare spectacle
to a round of excited applause.
