At The Kiplingcotes Derby

The oldest flat race in England dates back to 1519 and takes place
on the 3rd Thursday in the month. It covers a distance of 4 miles
from the old Kiplingcotes Railway Station near Market Weighton
finishing at Londesborough Wold Farm. There were 18 runners and
the most enchanting, although not the winner, a lady in full black
hunting attire galloping side saddle. A stirring sight indeed.
