Ismat (standing in the photo) sums up the spirit of this year's International Women's Day theme - MAKE IT HAPPEN.

She is a founding member of her village's IMPACT Mothers' Club. These forums in rural Bangladesh promote key health messages, empowering women (most of whom are illiterate) with information about maternal health, nutrition, sanitation, hygiene and how to recognise the first signs of ill-health and disability. Ismat also has a thriving vegetable garden which she uses to supplement her family's diet and shares produce with her neighbours.
