Lady Amherst Pheasant
I called in to see our neighbour this afternoon, and while talking to her, one of her Lady Amherst Pheasant's jumped up on the gate in front of me. Fortunately I had my camera in the car (as I always do now!), so I rushed out and took the opportunity to take a photo for today's blip. This particular pheasant is a female.
Lady Amherst's Pheasants are named after Lady Sarah Pitt Amherst, wife of Count William Pitt Amherst. Lady Amherst was the first to bring these beautiful birds to England and so introduced them to the world outside their natural habitat.
