Deanston Still
Left the hotel and headed back to the brewery to get a glass as a memento. The hydroelectric power station in the mountain nearby wasn’t open for tours so we headed home via the Deanston distillery. It opened in the 60’s in an old mill. It was the only distillery to use 4 large water wheels to generate its own electricity. These have since been replaced with a hydroelectric plant but it still produces enough electricity to pay for its self.
Had a nice tour and a tasting after. Never had it before. Nice sweet whisky with a spicy finish. Also had a try of their Virgin Oak bottling which was a bit sweeter and not quite so spicy.
Came home and did the shopping before going up town to look for a holiday. Managed to find a bargain for June so we can go away with J’s parents. They haven’t been aboard for a good few years now.
J spent the rest of the afternoon making soup. Have a nice night in catching up on some TV.
