ARMS of AUSTRALIA INN....
.... thanks again to JoanneinOz for another Mono Monday and the theme is "Ancient Buildings"!
Well the oldest we have here in Penrith is my choice today.
It is a back view of the ARMS of AUSTRALIA Inn and was originally started to be built in 1826 and completed in the main second stage I understand in 1840. It obtained its Hotel (Inn) licence in 1841, and played an integral role in being a major stopover point for coaches moving from Sydney through Penrith to the Blue Mountains (Bathurst).
Have a read if you have time of the link above quite interesting history.
Presently very well maintained by the brilliant work of volunteers from the The Nepean District Historical Society.
Have put a couple of other pics on Flickr.
Back in July 2013 my Blip covered this magnificent "old" building have a look.
Enjoy, and have a good day, thanks again to Jo for hosting MM with some great "themes", a lot of fun.
