Little Hummer
Because I chose to hang the Hummingbird feeder under the overhang on our front porch, I can never get a decent photo of a Hummingbird. The lighting is such that I am always aiming into the light, so the bird looks terrible. I will never catch the sunlight highlighting the jewelike tones or intricate details of the feathers.
The good news about hanging the feeder out of the sun is that the sugary mix never goes bad or grows mold.
This morning, as I was planting some flowers in baskets on the porch, I noticed that the little streaks of sunlight (the forecast calls for thunderstorms today) were causing the Hummingbirds' bright red feathers to nearly glow.
I positioned a chair on the porch and sat. And sat some more. Finally a little male came to the feeder and although not a great photo, you can certainly see his red feathers!
He eyed me up and down....he is staring at me and the camera in the photo...before taking a quick sip and then zipping off as Hummingbirds do!
