St Michael's Tower

A trip to Glasgow today for a meeting. The snowy hills in the sunlight were photogenic but for once I managed to catch sight - from the moving train- of the aluminium tower on top of St Michael's Parish Church. It somewhat overshadows the palace to the right ( construction on which started in 1424, nearly 600 years ago.

There are more classic views from the loch on sunny days but it will do fine as a blip for today.

The aluminium structure went up in 1964 - the tower could not support anything heavier. It was controversial at the time but to my mind the design has stood the test of time.
