To Walk through Hutchinson Square

I was working in Douglas today.

We finished early and this gave me an opportunity to take a diversionary route back to my car.

In 1940 Hutchinson Square was established as an internment camp. The buildings that you see all date from this time.  I am assuming that a temporary barbed wire enclosure fence was constructed around the rear of the houses.

All the occupiers pre war occupiers had to leave and their place was taken by internees.

In 1944  Hutchinson Square became a prisoner of war camp for a short time.

No evidence of these tumultuous times remain as far as I can tell.
