Shining a Light on Radio
I had my first Blipmeet today, with JohnH1989, his wife W and their friend S. They had a little unofficial tour of BBC Radio with me before taking the official tour of Broadcasting House this afternoon. And what lovely people they are, as I knew they would be. It was great fun showing them a little of what goes into making radio programmes, and we even managed a very brief visit to the staff canteen next to the newsroom for some infamous BBC tea. After that, they watched me record a discussion with presenter Samira Ahmed and two young film critics for the Radio 4 arts programme, Front Row. John took a photo of me at the controls for his blip today, but I'm sorry to say I didn't have my own camera in the studio so I missed the opportunity to reciprocate! Instead, here's a bright and jewel-like Turkish lamp which I always love to look at on the way home - one of many hanging inside the Istanbul Café and Bistro at Great Portland Street tube station.
