Other people's bookcases...

The day started pretty early for a Saturday with C and co. excitedly dashing round showering, breakfasting, and packing the car for their journey to Luton Airport to head off on the final leg of their European trip - skiing in La Clusaz near Annecy. I remained firmly in my pjs.

I had some lovely long hugs from W (aged 7) who has apparently said he'd like to live in England! I told him he could come and stay with me, his Aged Aunt any time he likes. (I'm adopting this moniker from now on in the family, though C said if that was the case I could also be termed the Aged Spinster or the Old Maid. Hmmmmm. I said Aged Aunt was definitely preferred!) I waved them all off a little sadly, though it's been a wonderful few weeks and I'm privileged that they always stay with me when they come. Then I flopped and did a big fat zero, aaaaaaaah, til I packed and left to visit friends at 4ish.

I've spent a lovely evening in Leicester, swapping work stories with S, hearing about the football match from J and J and enjoying the most fabulous home made curries with them for dinner. I'm staying over and as I'd failed, yet again, to take a half decent photo today this is an emergency shot of the bookcase in the spare room I'm staying in. I'm always interested to see what other people have on their bookcases. In this case, it's mainly old childhood books of S's and some biographies belonging to her husband. I've pulled out 'The Naughtiest Girl in the School' to read tonight. One of my girlhood faves, which I confess to re-reading at least every ten years or so!

P didn't get an offer from Cambridge so the pressure's off and she'll be off to either Manchester or Newcastle instead. She's now joined a 'semi' elite club to which I also belong, the Oxbridge Rejects!
