Littleburn

We went to Littleburn today, with the mistaken idea that the canopy of fir trees would protect us from the downpour.

As you can see I was wrong.!

After posing for this photo Bud decided that he wasn't quite wet enough and a swim in the stream after his ball would be a good idea. He slid down the bank, the ball was stuck under a fallen log that was creating a dam. poor lad he misjudged the depth of water and sank right under the surface. As he emerged he grabbed hold of the ball and tried to scramble back up the bank, slipping and sliding back all the time. I thought he was never going to manage it.

But he did, minus the ball! So, not deterred, he ran alongside the stream looking for an easier way down. Eventually he found it, back into the stream he went, but by this time I had found a long stick and was able to push the ball towards him. He then doggy paddled back the way he had come, against the current, and emerged triumphant!

Sardines for tea tonight!
