Among the kettle boilers

A wee trip to Dens Park for Dondeh v Ross County.. I hadn't been there since Dondeh played the now sadly defunct Meadowbank Thistle in the early 1990s. Had you told me then that 1) a Highland League team that Thistle thrashed 6-1 in the Scottish Cup would be playing in the Premier Division and 2) a wee lassie would be running the line I'm not sure I would have believed you.
Kylie McMullen didn't put a foot wrong and I hope she has a good future as an official. In Dundee it was the tradition that the women worked in the mills and their pay kept the bairns fed while the men, subject to the  ups and downs of the local economy, waited at home- they were thus nicknamed "kettle boilers". Perhaps appropriate then that Ms McMullen should take part in what is traditionally a male role for a Dundee match.
