Stow Station January 2015

Another one of the Borders Railway- here they are putting in concrete retainers at the rebuilt Stow Station. 
The Waverley Line used to run from Edinburgh to Carlisle and went through the Borders. It was a victim of the Beeching Cuts and closed in 1969. The new Borders Line will stop just outside Melrose rather than go on to Hawick and Carlisle. 
I was interested to see that they had driven an engine and goods wagons up to just outside Stow- the first time a train has been seen in that part of the Borders for 45 years....
